Vitasus
Vitasus is our long-term extender for boar semen preservation and artificial insemination.
Beltsville thawing solution (BTS) is the common extender for dilution of boar semen for artificial insemination. However, this semen extender is designed only for short-term preservation and semen storage for more than 3 days is critical.
For long-term storage of boar semen we developed Vitasus which is available as an additive to BTS. Addition of Vitasus results in an improved preservation of boar spermatozoa and storage of the extended semen for up to 10 days is possible.
Vitasus is shipped as liquid in steril glas vials and is simply added to BTS. 10 ml Vitasus are sufficient for 1 liter BTS.
